Privacy Policy

Atlasby Synonymy · Effective March 2026

Overview

Atlas is built to be a private gym tracker. There is no Atlas account, no analytics, and no server. This policy explains what data stays on your device, what is read from or written to Apple Health, and what permissions Atlas requests.

Data We Collect

Atlas stores the following data locally on your device. None of it is transmitted to Synonymy or any third-party server:

  • Routines you create (names, exercises, planned sets and reps, schedule)
  • Workout history (sets, reps, weights, durations, timestamps)
  • Heart rate readings collected during a workout (average and max per session)
  • Bodyweight measurements you log
  • Reminder configurations and notification preferences

Atlas does not collect personal information (name, email, phone number), device identifiers, advertising IDs, location data, or usage analytics. There are no analytics SDKs, tracking pixels, or third-party data collection tools.

How Data Is Stored

  • On-device storage — all routines, workouts, and bodyweight entries are stored in the app’s local database on your iPhone.
  • Apple Health — with your permission, completed workouts are written to Apple Health as HKWorkout entries, and bodyweight entries you log can sync to Apple Health. Heart rate is read from Apple Health during a workout to display your live BPM.
  • No cloud sync — Atlas does not back up your data to any cloud service. Uninstalling Atlas removes all app data from your device. Data written to Apple Health is governed by your iCloud and Apple Health settings.

Apple Health Permissions

Atlas requests permission to read heart rate from Apple Health during workouts and to write workouts and bodyweight entries to Apple Health. You can grant or revoke these permissions individually at any time in Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > Atlas. Atlas does not function differently based on which Apple Health permissions you grant beyond the affected feature.

Notifications

Workout reminders are delivered as local notifications scheduled on your device. No push servers are involved and no scheduling data is sent off-device.

No Account Required

Atlas does not require you to create an account, sign up, or log in. There is no authentication system, no user database, and no server-side user profiles.

Data Deletion

You can delete individual routines, workouts, and bodyweight entries within the app. Uninstalling Atlas removes all app data from your device. To remove data Atlas wrote to Apple Health, use the Health app on your iPhone.

Children’s Privacy

Atlas is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date.
